The wonderful malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park is found close to Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, and is one of South Africa’s many popular national parks. It is a huge sanctuary for the elephants but it is also home to lots of other fascinating creatures, large and small.
The interesting thing about Addo is that it has several major vegetation zones and another thing is that it is known for not the big 5, but the big 7. Because there is also a coastal area of Addo Elephant National Park which stretches between Sundays River Mouth and Bushman’s River Mouth, the Big 7 includes amongst the elephant, rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo, as well as the great white shark and whale.
