Finchley Farm Cottage – Willowmore, W. Cape
Finchley Farm Cottage – a superb choice of accommodation in Willowmore
The attractive town of Willowmore has an interesting history. The Willows was a trading centre in 1864 and was first named Willow-Moore. The town of Willow-Moore was founded in 1864 when Frederick and William Joseph Moore donated land to the Dutch Reformed Church.
Today Willowmore is known for being the gateway to the Baviaanskloof which is a World Heritage site. The area is well known for its sheep- and goat farming.
There is plenty to see and do in and around Willowmore, and apart from some great coffee shops and restaurants, there are museums, the Old Boer graveyards, donkey cart rides, hikes such as the Pierre Ferreira Hiking Trail, and mountain bike routes to enjoy. On your way down to George this is worth a stopover.
Finchley Farm Cottage is a great place to stay while you spend some time in Willowmore. It is a South African farm complete with cows, horses, and sheep, with some game as well such as Kudu, Eland, and Impala. Also, a well-known landmark, Aasvoelberg, is actually on the farm and this alone provides visitors with wonderful outdoor activities such as hiking, hang gliding, mountain climbing, and off-road trails.
It is situated about 3 kilometers outside of Willowmore. The cottage itself dates back to the late 1800s and it is stylishly furnished with some historic items from this time.
